Minolta 16 Subminiature Spy Camera – Tested Mechanically, Excellent Condition
This is a classic Minolta 16 subminiature camera, often referred to as a “spy camera” because of its extremely small size, discreet operation, and the way it was used in the 1950s–1960s for surveillance, undercover work, and private investigations. Its sliding body design, tiny lens, and almost silent shutter made it perfect for capturing photos without drawing attention.
The camera uses 16mm Minolta subminiature film cartridges, a format popular in the mid-20th century for compact photography. These cartridges can still be reloaded today by enthusiasts who enjoy shooting with vintage subminiature cameras.
The condition of this camera is excellent, as clearly shown in the close-up photos. All mechanical functions are working properly: the shutter cocks and fires, the speeds appear accurate, and the aperture and exposure wheel turn smoothly. The lens glass is present and clean.
The optical viewfinder is missing, which is common for these cameras because the tiny finder windows could detach or become lost over time. The camera can still be used by estimating framing, as many photographers did originally.
Please check all detailed, high-definition photos to inspect the exact condition of the camera.
The camera comes with its original leather case, which shows wear from age but still protects and completes the vintage set.
Please note: the camera is not tested with film, but all mechanical operations function correctly, making it suitable for collectors or for those who enjoy restoring and shooting with subminiature cameras.
A wonderful piece of photographic history, beautifully preserved and fully functional mechanically.
