A striking and highly decorative vintage serving set, full of character and sculptural beauty. The handles are richly decorated with repeating diamond and star-flower motifs in relief, a design style often associated with ethnic metalwork traditions from the North African / Near East region during the mid-20th century. The silver tone surface has developed a natural aged patina, with darker tones settled nicely inside the patterns, giving depth and contrast.
One of the most unusual details is the shape of the handles. They are not flat like normal cutlery – they are thick, square-formed and three-dimensional, giving a bold presence and a very rare look. Each piece is made from two parts – the decorative handle construction, and the heavier metal serving end attached to it.
